Big Idea: Placing Beds at Night in Empty Carparks for Homeless People

Putting beds for the homeless in parking lots

We have all seen a homeless person at some stage, and we must understand that they face many dangers, not only in terms of health, but also in terms of sleeping on the street, and we are all aware that homelessness can strike at any time.

Not having a set location, not knowing where they will spend the night, is bound to cause depression and stress, so the Australian organization Beddow came up with a brilliant solution to assist all those who find themselves in that situation, transforming a parking lot into a safe haven for those in need.

The only stipulation is that people visit the location at night, when there are no cars on the road. The group is in charge of providing sheets, pillows, and duvets for the beds, as well as fresh clothing, medical services, a dentist, and a stylist.

For greater comfort, they are allowed to use the bathrooms and showers in the public parking lot.

We seek to give them a comfortable space so that they can have a good night. It is our purpose. We hope to have a big impact,” said the creators of Bedddown.
