inCommunity acknowledges the importance of ‘Closing the Gap’ for Australia’s First Nations Peoples.
In particular, inCommunity, and our brands of Beddown, inCommunity Connect and the Tenancy Skills Institute, remain committed to providing real and meaningful outcomes for First Nations Peoples in relation to housing and homelessness, and to providing a space that is both culturally safe and culturally appropriate for both our clients and staff.
This year we have invited our staff to engage in a reflective piece to encourage deeper thought about Closing the Gap and what this really means.
Whilst there have been gains in relation to health and early childhood, we note that there is still much work to be done to address the overrepresentation of First Nations Peoples in the justice and child protection systems. We believe that working towards better housing outcomes is a crucial part of this valuable work.
