On the 18th December 2023, our Deputy CEO Nerissa Wade had the honour of receiving from AMA Queensland Foundation’s Chair Dr Dilip Dhupelia, an extraordinary donation of $173,780.
Beddown is the recipient of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts via their 2023 ‘End of Financial Year’ Appeal, and Charity Gala held last month where Beddown’s Founder Norm McGillivray shared the story of Beddown with the Foundation’s members and associates. As the charitable arm of AMA Queensland, the Foundation brings together medical colleagues and the business community to deliver vital services outside those catered for by the public health system.
Realising a shared vision between both organisations that aligns the basic human rights of shelter and healthcare for people sleeping rough, the Foundation has purposefully raised monies that will significantly enhance Beddown’s mission to provide a health and wellbeing response to assist people who are sleeping rough through targetted supports. Beddown continues to fundraise for a dedicated venue in Ipswich that will provide a safe space for people sleeping rough.
